How To Shift Trauma:

Emotion is just energy in motion and attaching or suppressing to it is the cause of trauma and pain. Let your emotions be fluid by not attaching to them. Emotions may inform us but we shouldn't hold on to them.

Whenever a strong emotion arises, feel into your body to experience it and let its energy pass through to release.

Let emotions flow without attachment

Try this Somatic technique to move stuck emotions (trauma) from your body, but first, ensure you are present and in non-attachment:

  • Close your eyes and focus on your body, ensure your spine is straight.

  • Think back to a difficult situation where you felt triggered. What are you feeling in your body?

  • Can you identify a shape, size, colour, temperature, texture, sound?

  • If this pain had form, what would it be?

  • Imagine a movie on a screen in front of you and come to the scene where the wound was created.

  • As you watch your movie play, go to where the pain memory resides in your body and identify the sensations are you experiencing.

  • Breath through any pain that arises and gently place your hand where the wound lives within you and send it love and light.

  • As you gently touch this part of your body say to yourself, ‘I’m here I’ve got you’.

  • Now feel as fully as possible into any anxiety, sadness or anger that pops up. Feel the feelings but detach from the cause and focus on your breathing to move the energy on.

  • Go back to your movie and pause before the trauma scene and send loving thoughts to the trauma.

  • Flip the script by cutting this scene from the movie, using your imagination.

  • Ensure the old memory is gone by visualising it being dragged into an imaginary trash bin and empty it.

  • If you want, you can create in a new empowering scene in your movie to replace the old one.

  • Finally, ask the wounded part if there is anything it wants before letting go.
