ACCEPTANCE

Acceptance helps us to see the reality of a situation while understanding we cannot change it.  To accept is to acknowledge the facts of a situation, to let things be and to find a place of assent and closure.

We create excuses and conditional responses when we cannot find acceptance. Consolation is a story we tell ourselves to make something appear more palatable, while endurance or tolerance allows us to put up with something ‘for the sake of peace’, but can niggle away in our mind as closure has not been achieved. Acceptance helps us reach finality, whereas conditional responses are based on judgment that requires us to suppress or bypass our true feelings, or even form attachments through resentment from having to put up with situations we disagree with.

Through acceptance, we rise above.

Acceptance is free from judgment. It brings in understanding while letting go of the idea we can do anything to change it. We may not like what is happening, but we can free ourselves when we consciously assess, agree to move our focus away from difficult situations and find acceptance in ’It is what it is.’  When we live in complete acceptance, it is the end of drama in our lives!
